Carrico Family

November 2nd, 2007 was the most beautiful Friday afternoon in
Guatemala City. It would also prove to be the most special day in our
lives.

This is the day that God took Lucas out of his pocket to share with the world. He was brought into this world with the love of many, and his journey had just begun. We have been blessed to be included in his journey as his Dada and Papa. Lucas came home to us in December of 2008 after a long stressful wait and 4 visit trips to Guatemala. Lucas came home as the legal son to only one of us. We now have the next step of ensuring the protection of our family through a second parent adoption.

We bought our home in a state that has this precedent set so that we had the option to give Lucas the legal right for two same sex parents. We have joined Adopt More to
join the many families who celebrate their families through adoption. We hope to help raise funds to create awareness to all about adoption as well as help the cause of human rights on all levels. In addition we hope to help inform and, if need be, educate other families and individuals about same sex parenting. Over 140 million children are without loving homes in this world - how can anyone deny support of these children?
